National Geographic Television International (NGTI) today announces that is has concluded deals for nearly 20 hours of programming with RAI in Italy.
RAI 2 has acquired the popular science series IS IT REAL (10 x 52), which looks at a range of paranormal topics such as Crop Circles, UFOs and Animal Psychics, along with KING TUT’S CURSE (1 x 52), the headline-grabbing documentary that reveals what the boy king looked like and how he died. Both programmes were produced by NGT&F for NGC US and NGCI.
RAI 3 meanwhile has taken a package of programmes that includes science shows LAST MAN STANDING (1 X 90) and THE TRUE FACE OF HURRICANES (1 X 52) plus natural history doc PREDATORS AT WAR (1 X 90) – all produced by National Geographic Television & Film. In addition, they have acquired THE MONKEY HUNTERS (1 x 52) and ELEPHANTS OF THE KILIMANJARO (1 x 52), produced by Nature Conservation Films.
Paola Cunsolo, NGTI’s sales consultant in Italy comments: “A number of these shows, such as King Tut’s Curse, are major event programmes with excellent CGI, new science and a major entertainment factor, and as such, I am pleased to say that they have been licensed for competitive primetime slots.
“Rai’s relationship with National Geographic Television International continues to develop, with the broadcaster confident that NGTI’s range of quality factual programming can help drive ratings in this difficult market and meet all their scheduling requirements from scientific discovery and ancient history, through to natural history and current affairs.”
