National Geographic Television International is pleased to announce three deals concluded on the first day of MipTV 2005.
Both Ten in Australia and Prime in New Zealand have licensed the four x one hour series CATASTROPHE, which tells some of the most extraordinary disaster stories ever known. Using dramatic footage and first person accounts, this new series from National Geographic Television & Film looks at the San Francisco earthquake of 1989, the Pinatubo volcano eruption in the Philippines, 1999’s Hurricane Floyd and a rare outbreak of super twisters that saw more than 15 tornadoes on the ground simultaneously.
ATV Hong Kong has also renewed its 30 hour output deal, choosing a range of titles from the NGTI MipTV catalogue, including TINY HUMANS: FINDING HOBBITS IN FLORES (1 x 52); LOST TREASURES, HIDDEN BUDDHA (1 x 52); BEAR ISLAND (1 x 52); VIOLENT PLANET (1 x 52) and LAST MAN STANDING: THE HUMAN RACE (1 x 52).
Joanna Rowley, sales manager at NGTI responsible for these deals comments: “This is a great start to the NGTI sales drive at MipTV. We have some fantastic new programmes launching at the market, including KING TUT’S CURSE and KILLER CATS, and are especially pleased that our strong science-based shows such as CATASTROPHE are proving so popular.”
