After a successful MIPCOM 2004 securing a raft of sales for its new programming, National Geographic Television International is now in a position to announce three of its deals.
South African broadcaster SABC3 has signed an output deal to take a minimum of 10 National Geographic Television & Film specials from 2004 for its Sunday primetime factual slot.
ATV in Hong Kong has renewed its existing output deal with NGTI and will take 30 one-hour Specials next year, in addition to 10 x 30 On Assignments. ATV and NGTI have a longstanding relationship, with the broadcaster recently broadening its interest in NGTI programming to incorporate history, science and people/places titles, in addition to the traditional natural history.
In addition, Canal Plus in France has licenced three of NGTI’s key new wildlife shows at MIPCOM: DEVILS OF TASMANIA (1 x 52), ARCTIC VOYAGE: ON THIN ICE (1 x 52) and UGANDA’S KILLER CROCS (1 x 52).

Our clients welcomed our re-branding from Explore International and we had a very positive response to the new shows we had, ranging from the children’s show Marvi Presents National Geographic World, through to blue-chip wildlife series Predators at War and history series Guns, Germs and Steel. We look forward to announcing more deals as they are confirmed over the coming weeks.”
